Llegada de médicos

Sancti Spíritus.— Cuando el ómnibus «ancló» en la Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Serafín Sánchez Valdivia de esta añeja urbe y la colaboradora médica Gianny Batista Cano se desmontó, Alejandro, su pequeño, la abrazó tan fuerte como pudo. Demasiado tiempo había pasado desde el último estrujón.

¡Mamá!, fue la frase más esperada para que a Gianny le pareciera inmenso ese calor humano que le vino encima, después de dos años cumpliendo misión en el municipio Brazo del Norte, en Santa Catarina, donde era la única cubana para atender a más de 6 000 pacientes.

«Fue una misión inolvidable porque el pueblo nos recibió con mucho cariño, sobre todo los más necesitados que no tienen casi acceso a las medicinas y los especialistas», dice con la voz entrecortada y los ojos húmedos.

A la mente de esta joven de 29 años llegan los primeros meses de estar en el gigante sudamericano, cuando diagnosticó a siete pacientes con cáncer avanzado, pues desde su arribo le informaron que tendría pacientes envejecidos con escasa atención previa.

«Además de esa experiencia, nunca olvidaré a Enmanuel, un pequeño con anemia severa sin diagnóstico y al poco tiempo se complicó con una púrpura trombocitopénica, y hoy está en perfectas condiciones, gracias a todo el empeño y dedicación que le di», añade.

Alejandro no deja casi hablar a Gianny. Le roba múltiples besos y la aprieta tanto que le corta cada palabra.

Junto a ellos, otros abrazos y besos se roban el «show», la familia de Yunaiki Cruz Verdecia no lo deja poner pies en tierra. Esta es su tercera misión internacionalista y aunque ya pudiera estar acostumbrado a las bienvenidas no pudo dejar escapar la emoción cuando su pequeña se le abalanzó o al ver llorando, también, a su hijo mayor.

«Nos recibió en La Habana el Presidente Díaz-Canel, quien nos dijo que habíamos regresado con la frente y la dignidad muy en alto; eso me emocionó mucho. Me siento muy contento de estar aquí y con el deber cumplido», concluyó.

Historias similares se repiten en cada llegada de los galenos espirituanos. Todos los abrazos, besos, sonrisas y frases de emoción captan las miradas y las fotos del pueblo yayabero que va hasta la plaza para recibirlos con júbilo por haber construido sus propias historias en Brasil.
